About Us

WINDING SNAKE PRODUCTIONS is a Cardiff based animation and media education organisation with a mission to engage and collaborate with people who are socially marginalised and/or have little or no access to the arts or their heritage. They make animation techniques accessible so diverse groups of people can be involved in creating animated films about subjects important to them. 2016 has been a bumper year for the team, who have received six best animation awards for their community led films and had four of their films invited to screen at over 30 different international film festivals including Animaze in Montreal and Celtic Media Festival in Dungarvan.

EBBW FAWR LEARNING COMMUNITY is Wales first 3-16 years maintained School. This is the also the first time, that WS and Ebbw Fawr have worked together.

ABERTILLERY LEARNING COMMUNITY is a long-time collaborator with Winding Snake Productions. We first started working together with Abertillery Comprehensive School in 2011 with First Campus, the school have always been supportive of creative learning and of giving their pupils the opportunity to experience new and innovative ideas.

ARTS COUNCIL OF WALES’ vision is of a creative Wales where the arts are central to the life of the nation.

The Arts Councils Strategy is straightforward – it’s summed up in just three words: Make Reach, Sustain.

Making art, ensuring it connects and giving it a durable legacy are indivisible. And these are the themes that underpin our work.

First Campus is the South East Wales Reaching Wider partnership and is funded through the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales (HEFCW). The First Campus project is a partnership of all the Higher Education Institutions and Further Education Colleges in South East Wales with all project Coordinators based at Universities.

First Campus is able to open the doors to University campuses and academic staff across South East Wales, for inspirational and aspirational learning programmes, highlighting progression pathways into Further and Higher Education. We have a collaborative working ethic, maximising multi-agency approaches with different sectors to prioritise recruitment to those from Communities First areas. For example, working in partnership with Winding Snake has enabled First Campus to highlight opportunities within animation and other creative industries whilst working with school aged children across South East Wales.

We would like to thank The National Museums and Galleries of Wales, G39 and Chapter Gallery for their support during this project.
